Overview

There are several Sake - Japanese fermented rice alcohol - brewers near Tokyo. Although it is only 50-70 km away from the center of Tokyo, it is not so easy to access. To produce good Sake, abundant high quality water is required. The brewers are located on the riverside in a mountainous area and in many cases far away from railroad stations.

Ozawa Shuzo (Brewery) is located in Oume city, Tokyo, about 1hr 40 mins by train from Shinjuku Station. The brewery is surrounded by great nature, Tama River and a deep forest. The tour starts from how sake is made, factory tour, with tasting at the end. Gyokudo Art Museum is also near by for art lovers. Its dried landscape garden is ranked the 5th by "Journal of Japanese Gardening" . A walk along Tamagawa river is relaxing and refreshing.

We will explore the nature of west of Tokyo, Okutama for a full day.
